Background

Eaglercraft is a genuinely remarkable technical project created by developer lax1dude: a faithful port of Minecraft (based on the classic 1.5.2 release) rebuilt to run entirely inside a web browser, using WebGL for rendering and WebSockets to bridge Minecraft's original networking protocol for real online multiplayer. It emerged from the Minecraft modding and reverse-engineering community as a way to bring the genuine Minecraft experience — not a clone or reimagining, but the real game's mechanics — to any device with a browser, no installation, launcher, or purchase required.

Because it preserves actual Minecraft gameplay rather than approximating it, Eaglercraft became popular specifically in places where installing the real Minecraft launcher isn't possible, while still offering genuine survival mode, creative building, crafting, and multiplayer server support.

How to Play
