Background

Jetpack Joyride was released in 2011 by Halfbrick Studios, the same Australian developer behind Fruit Ninja, and became another massive mobile hit for the studio thanks to its simple one-touch controls and constantly rewarding progression system. Its premise — a character who steals an experimental jetpack from a secret lab and flees through an endless obstacle-filled facility — gave the endless-runner genre a distinct, memorable identity beyond generic running.
