Background

Pac-Man was created in 1980 by designer Toru Iwatani at Namco (now Bandai Namco Entertainment) and remains one of the single most influential and recognizable video games ever made. Iwatani reportedly designed it specifically to appeal to a broader audience than the combat-focused arcade games dominating the market at the time, aiming for a non-violent, universally approachable concept — a character eating its way through a maze while avoiding pursuers — that could bring more women and families into arcades.

That design goal succeeded beyond anything Namco anticipated: Pac-Man became a global cultural phenomenon, spawning countless sequels, merchandise, an animated series, and a permanent place in gaming history as one of the earliest examples of a video game character achieving genuine mainstream celebrity status.

How to Play

Goal & Purpose

The objective is to clear each maze by eating every dot while avoiding the four ghosts, using power pellets strategically to turn dangerous chases into scoring opportunities.

Why Play Pac-Man

It's a genuine piece of gaming history and still one of the most perfectly balanced arcade formulas ever designed. GBK Games also has Google Snake for another timeless arcade classic.
